Humans are social animals. We are at a point in humanity where people from all around the world are connected in an unimaginably complex way. We rely on people we never see to do things we take for granted.
Unless you live in the middle of forest by yourself, you can’t really claim to truly be independent. Even if you could attain all the material resources needed yourself, you would still most likely be emotionally starved due to a natural need for connection and engagement with other people.
Everyone lives atop the progress of previous generations. We are not meant to be alone.
That’s not an opinion, that’s the truth.
If you don’t photosynthesize, you’re not truly independent. Oh, you still depend on the sun?
How independent should a person be?
Can anyone truly be independent?
I haven’t seen anyone reproduce independently yet.
Independence is a very anti-human idea. Absolutely. There’s this individualist obsession with “independence” as the ultimate goal, the meaning of freedom, and it’s total delusion. Human beings are social animals, we are not meant to be “independent” of each other.
The only reason any of us have the life we have is because people are interdependent.
