- Cambodia did not agree to use a 1:50000 map to divide the territory like every other country, but wanted to use a 1:200000 map which was not detailed. The map was roughly created 100 years ago.
- Cambodia invaded Thai territory by digging a shelter and secretly planting a bomb which caused the legs of 2 Thai soldiers to be amputated.
- Cambodia transported RPG weapons close to the border and flew drones into Thailand to survey the military forces. Thailand told them to retreat but Cambodia refused.
- Cambodia fired rockets into Thailand without specifying their coordinates, causing the rockets to fall on hospitals, 7-11 stores and houses of the people, killing 14 people, including children and the elderly.
- Thailand responded with F16s, destroying 2 Cambodian military bases.
In conclusion, it can be seen that Thailand clearly aimed to destroy Cambodian military strongholds, not civilians. However, Cambodia did not intend to destroy Thai military bases, but civilians and hospitals. This can be considered a war crime. Thailand therefore has the legitimacy to retaliate against Cambodia.
Sounds like Cambodia is about to find out where they sit in the international hierarchy
Hun Sen escalated this conflict by uploading the phone call. Peace was in the negotiations until he done that
Hun Sen is likely gonna find that to be a very very very regrettable decision…
No, no… Cambodia did not start the war. You said it yourself: Cambodia is at a significant disadvantage in all aspects—military, country GDP, and business investment. It makes no logical sense that Cambodia would invade Thailand first. First of all, Thai forces shot and killed a Khmer soldier, which escalated into a full-blown war. Cambodia did not want another conflict after having been through so much, including the Khmer Rouge, the Cold War, and Thai invasions of the border for so many years… It’s enough, and the abuse from Thailand seems to never stop. Even after UNESCO declared the temple belongs to Cambodia, and Google Maps literally shows it on Cambodian land, they still claim it as their own. Secondly, even after Thai forces killed a Khmer soldier, Prime Minister Hun Manet still wanted to negotiate this at the ICJ instead of going to war. And did you ignore the fact that the Thai lieutenant of the 2nd Army literally declared war, saying, “If you want this land, come and fight for it”? That’s enough proof of who is starting the war. Cambodia wants to settle this at the ICJ, while Thailand wants to start a war due to their lack of trust from the Preah Vihear temple dispute. And now, they stepped on landmines that have been buried since the Cold War in the 1990s. Nobody would go there unless they crossed the border illegally, which they did. Don’t be fooled by Thai media. Their people have been known for trickery and manipulation since the days of the ancient Khmer Empire thousands of years ago.
Facts? Preah Vihear is for all intents and purposes Cambodian. Has always been Cambodian. Since Thailand caused the death of between 3k – 10k refugees in the region back in the seventies, it is an even more touchy subject. There is no confusion about where a border goes no matter what scale of map is used, and the court ruling on the topic took place in 1962.
U don’t go to ICJ that mean u a theft, don’t play as victim
dumb comment. ICJ used tainted evidence, the French’s, without looking at written historical documents. French owns Cambodia back then, so they drew a map in favor of Cambodia. While Thailand has historical EVIDENCES that the temple belong on Thailand’s soils for generations! I don’t see why Thailand should accept the ruling decision made by 3rd party who don’t even know the history of the land.
No no. That’s all lying!
There was actually another phone call before the leaked one. In the first call, the Thai side asked Cambodia to adjust military presence to reduce tensions. Cambodia agreed — but Thailand didn’t follow through. Instead, they went to the media and claimed Khmer troops had withdrawn, trying to create a false narrative. At the same time, the Thai military made unilateral moves — like closing the border or changing times — without coordinating with Cambodia. The situation got worse, not better. So when the second call happened, it was Thailand’s PM who contacted Samdech Hun Sen again to ask Cambodia to open the border. But this time, Samdech Hun Sen recorded the conversation — not out of disrespect, but to prevent Thailand from twisting the facts again. That’s when the Thai PM got upset and accused Hun Sen of being “unprofessional” for using social media — and that’s how the audio leak began. The root of the problem? The Thai PM has no control over her military. They act independently, which is why the situation keeps escalating. If the Thai PM truly had the power to reopen the border, Cambodia would follow and reopen within 5 hours — guaranteed.
How can we take leaders seriously when they negotiate on their cell phones? What happen to face to face meeting? With modern technology such as AI, how do we know if anything is legit?
The temple was built by the Khmer Empire. The ICJ has ruled 2x that the temple belongs to Cambodia. The dispute is being used by Thai military and nationalists for votes, influence and money.
The problem is that Cambodia tries to claim they are the sole heirs of the Khmer Empire. Both Thailand and Cambodia are now Buddhist and should view the Khmer Empire as a lost civilization. In Thailand, Sri Thep has also been discovered, which is far older than the Khmer Empire.
The Thai people should already know by now that she, your prime minister was absolutely right to use diplomacy, kindness and politeness trying to diffuse the conflict into becoming a full scale war, like you’re having now.
Will I still be able to get a Mai Tai?
The Hun Sen family are a cartel and should be treated as such. This conflict is nothing more than a means to maintain his power. To make matters worse, the latest Shinawatra leader showed weakness by her willingness to cave to his demands. These border encroachments have been steady and ongoing for decades by this cartel. Drug smuggling and human trafficking are a major source of their income and is at the heart of this border conflict. The border incursions and territory disputes is merely a secondary effect of that. The Hun Sen regime are desperate and will do anything to maintain their hold on Cambodia. The ICJ has no jurisdiction on the territorial dispute and their ruling is one sided and should be heavily scrutinized. One thing is certain though, both Thai and Cambodian citizens are dying as a result of these blatant war crimes by the Hun Sen cartel.
From the many pro-Thailand comments in the Comments Section, I suspect the US and Thai army had planned this war. Paetongtarn Shinawatra is a peacemaker…
some truth about that also..
It’s because ..
- Many people in Thailand don’t like her. This sound stupid, but it is true. There are many political issues in Thailand. She didn’t win the election last time, they played dirty to let her win for her dad (former prime minister) to come back to Thailand.
- She said ‘I’ll give you anything you want’ to Hun sen on the phone call. Hun sen has been trying to get Koh kood from Thailand. It made Thai people worried and not trust her even more. (her family was very close with Hun Sen)
- She said the head of the military army was on the opposite site of them. That made Thai people thought she might be the opposite site of Thai people too.
Hopes this help 🙂
The people don’t want war. The rich Thais are looking to expand their wealth and power by claiming ownership of ancient temples created by Khmer people. Why do they want Khmer temples? It’s not their history or culture.
Blame the French for that. Over 50% of the world’s borders today were drawn as a result of British and French imperialism. The British and French drew the modern borders of the Middle East (Sykes-Picot), 80% of the borders of Africa, North America (Seven Years War), the Caribbean, Europe (Napoleon, Treaty of Versailles) and Asia with the British Raj and French Indochina
The ICJ is not a shield for your actions. Your use of landmines violates the Ottawa Convention. Cambodia launched the first attack — not on military targets, but on Thai civilians: convenience stores, hospitals, and homes filled with women and children. This is a blatant violation of the Geneva Conventions, and it constitutes a war crime.”
You don’t have to believe it, but the truth never dies. One thing I know for sure: Thailand has never been an aggressor. Our history proves it — we’ve never been colonized because we’ve always shown humility and built good relations with others, even with those who threaten us, like Cambodia
Thailand is a peaceful land, never fought anyone before.
Stop playing victim when you are the one who start the war.
The Cambodians came and dug a hole and planted new bombs, then said they didn’t want to start a war. It’s shameful.
Why Thailand need the war against Cambodia? Not any motive at all.
But for Cambodia, your leader Hun-sen needs this chaos to stay still on the throne. Eyes open people of Cambodia! You’re ripping off by your greedy leader.
Cambodia wants peace. We seek to resolve this conflict through ICJ, but Thailand refuses, believing that their military strength gives them the upper hand. They choose war over dialogue. Cambodia has no desire for conflict, but we are left with no choice. When attacked, we will defend ourselves. Thailand is using most advanced weapons from the U.S., Europe, and Israel to attack Cambodia. We, Cambodia has no modern weaponry to strike back, and Thailand mocks us for it, but we defend our country with pride, truth and determination.
To all media outlets, please report clearly and impartially on the border dispute between Cambodia and Thailand.
Cambodia’s Ministry of National
Defense’s Account on the development that leads to the border clashes on 24 July 2025:
6:30 am Thailand begins provocative actions by violating the bilateral agreements when the Thai side sneaks in and installs barbed wire at the foot of Ta Moan Thom temple.
7:04 am Thailand hovers drone(s) for 2 minutes.
8:30 am Thailand fires to the sky
8:46 am Thai invasion forces initiate fires onto the Cambodian troops at Ta Moan Thom temple, with escalations moving toward Ta Krabei temple and Phnom Kmoach region. The Thai forces also extended their firing range to the Mom Bei area in Preah Vihear province, utilizing jet fighters.
8:47 Army forced to defend the homeland, Cambodian forces retaliate against aggression by Thai troops.
Cambodia was the provocateur, Cambodia was the first to fire, and Cambodia shot Thai civilians inhumanely and in violation of the Geneva Conventions.
Why Cambodia leader run away after start this? Where are all the bad mouth Cambodian now?
Cambodia attacked Thai hospital…
In Thailand, hospitals in border areas also have military personnel, and there are even hospitals fully staffed by military doctors where civilians receive normal treatment. Your country isn’t like Thailand, which is why it seems strange to you. However, this is not an excuse to attack hospitals. So, does that mean you support attacking hospitals? Are Cambodian people truly this inhumane?
Cambodia is no match for Thailand militarily .. yet facts remain, Cambodia did not pick this fight!!! Thailand is thee aggressor.
For those who are still wondering here’s the truth: Thailand started the fire first. Cambodia just wanted to protect ourselves.
The reason is that in the past, Cambodia was swept away by the Khmer Rouge, which had a communist ideology. Millions of people, whether educated, rich, knowledgeable, or just wearing glasses, were swept away by the communists. The result is that there are no intelligent people or historians left in the country, only fools.
If you believed in Hun Sen, it meant you were scammed by Cambodia.
Cambodia becomes big center of the cyber crime , scammer , casino and etc are main income of Hun sen family.
Don’t Thai to me!
Here we go again, someone’s always gonna blame sino this sino that, I’m pretty sure roughly 40% of Thai people have some Chinese ancestry, you can literally google it. The first king of Chakri dynasty was like a quarter Chinese, and most of the “Chinese” there fully identify as Thai. Also Hun Sen is 3 quarter (75%) Khmer with only a quarter (25%) Chinese heritage, he pretty much represents Khmer people. You can’t call him sino, lol, 25% is not sino, just like you can’t call Duterte or Marcos from Philippines sino (they’re also partial Chinese 25% or less). Maybe take your anti-Chinese BS somewhere else? btw CNA is sino news channel, cuz it’s from Singapore. Why are you even here?
Those F-16 fighter jets hit civilian villages, pagoda, health center, a UNESCO world heritage site and killed innocent people in Cambodia. Thai military targeted these non-military areas.
That is fake news. F-16 hits Cambodia military base.
Thailand is relies on tourism I’m 100% sure Thailand don’t need this to happen . But you guys . This is too much of what Cambodia did .
That is why F 16 strike happen and believe me I live here this is the first time of airstrike from Thailand in 50 years I never seen it be before in my entire life .
If Thailand really wanted war, it would have attacked Cambodia long ago because the fighting strength is different.
What’s up with Cambodia and attacking its much more powerful neighbours? The Khmer Rouge did the same thing
Cambodians keep whining about being colonized by white people, but they keep running back to them for validation. We’ve had a Joint Boundary Commission for nearly 20 years—stop acting like you need colonial approval.
The landmines that exploded and harmed Thai soldiers were the Russian made PMN-2 type which Thai army has never been used or stockpiled, but Cambodia posses numbers of this type. The area of patrolling and the incidents were the area announced of being the landmine-free from TMAC (Thailand Mine Action Centre) many years ago. Thus, this means those landmines had recently been laid by Cambodian soldiers in Thailand’s mine-free territory.
Thailand deployed its fighter jets in response not as provocation. Cambodian militant forces, under the guise of a national army, initiated the escalation by launching unguided BM-21 rockets indiscriminately into Thai territory.
Yet another conflict… This is not going to end well!
Deploy the Lady-Boy Brigade!
Hun Sen, the leader from hell
Hell couldn’t handle his evilness…
Low people, lost war playing victim. so cheap
Because of Cambodian Authoritarian regime now during dynastic political power transition, same old hun sen tactic to set Hero scene for his son to act as winner against Thai, the historical enemy. All tension and clash earlier is purely on purpose “Punching below belt first but act as victim”.
What is going on around the world
What has ALL LIFE on earth evolved into?
War everywhere ridiculous
Two innately peaceable peoples. I hope this is resolved soon in a peace agreement.
Obviously you don’t know the history of the region
No country is on Cambodia’s side because the world knows who started the war.
How can words be more reliable than witnesses and evidence?
It makes NO sense because what does Cambodia have to gain? They barely have a military compared to Thailand and no allies.
I don’t know the real story of who shot who first, but why did Cambodia shoot rockets into the civilian area and the hospital, the area of the common people?
It was a very bad act. Evil
War is the worst thing, no one wants it to happen. I hope peace will come soon.
